We just wrapped up a couple of small changes that might never hit the headlines but make a world of difference behind the scenes for Excuse My Blank. It’s this kind of work that teaches patience. And humility.

To start, we noticed our CI jobs were still stuck on our old runners. We like to think of it as keeping some dishes in the wrong cupboards. These jobs needed their new home on WarpBuild runners. It felt like moving small gears around to keep the big machinery humming.

Moving them wasn’t mind-blowing but important. Efficiency and speed matter. A few moments saved here and there add up when you’re constantly building and testing. It’s like shaving a fraction of a second off your mile time. A different rhythm.

The other change felt more like a direct line of defense, patching up a somewhat subtle security quirk. We found that player names were being directly injected into the innerHTML without being escaped. Basically, an open door for potential script injection if someone felt a little too mischievous with their name entry.

So, we made sure to escape those names. Secure them before letting them slip right in. There’s a sort of quiet satisfaction in knowing that a safe play zone remains just that — untouched by tricksters or glitchy circumstances.

These updates aren’t about grand pictures. They’re about the small reminders that keep us vigilant. About the tools we maintain. The frameworks we trust. The game we protect.

And us? We find clarity here. In the tiny moves and minute adjustments. In fixing the paint on the edge of the frame. In ensuring it all feels just right.
