As we continue to refine and enhance the user journey, we’re doubling down on making sure every visit feels seamless and engaging right from the start.
This week, our focus was on strengthening our foundation— the landing page. It’s the first impression and the gateway to everything BB Cards has to offer. The recent updates go beyond aesthetics, pulling functionality and accessibility to the forefront.
Join us as we peel back the curtain on these changes, looking beyond the pixels to the intentions driving each update. It’s more than just a visual refresh—it’s about tuning into the experience our players have been silently asking for. draft: false
We’ve been busy at Big Black Cards, polishing the edges and sanding down the imperfections. This latest round of updates sees us making significant strides—specifically on the landing page which serves as our all-important first handshake with the user.
I like to think of it as a dance—a choreography between expectation and delivery. We started with stale marquee copy that had gathered a bit of dust. The voice wasn’t quite singing the tune we intended, so we fixed it. Now it reaches out clearer, with intent; it’s less noise, more invitation.
Then, there was the spacing. Those tiny adjustments—the ones nobody consciously notices but everybody feels when they’re off. We spaced out home wordmarks just right and clipped the horizontal scroll on mobile. The subtlety of layout disproves its significance. We know you can’t appreciate smooth sailing without the absence of bumps.
On to the lobby. A cohesive control-panel rework was overdue, almost beckoning like a room too long left unvisited. The hand-rail was squeezing the stage into almost nothing, downright un-usable on mobile. It shouldn’t take an acrobat to navigate. Now we’ve given it room to breathe.
We embraced "cohesion" throughout the remaining pages, during that week. _Biscuits of predictability_—that's what I call them—crisp and consistent branding pop through in the marketing copy. It’s not about constraining creativity; it’s about setting a standard and meeting it, every time.
The landing, that lovely threshold where users step into our world for the first time, got a centered rework. We aimed for clarity over complexity—a cold-open rework presenting one clear action, teaching with a demo card front and center.
On the television screen—where you might catch a game broadcast—there's a stage restyle. These days, it’s all broadcast-cut: code pills, the stage, score tickers lined up just right.
Stepping back, I see something new in our reflection. Regular users might not notice every tweak, but the ship sails smoother now. I like where we’ve docked for the moment, knowing well enough tomorrow is another horizon to navigate.
